Crayons Go Berserk was conceived and created by kids! With the help of their dad, five siblings between the ages of 4 and 17 have been working hard to make their idea a reality.
This 2D iOS side-scrolling platformer begins with a young child wanting to do some art using the computer instead of crayons. This makes the crayons mad, so they conspire to steal the computer components in an effort to force the young child to use crayons instead. The object of the game is to retrieve the pieces of the computer, battling crazed crayon enemies on multiple levels while avoiding color bombs and various other obstacles.
Where Does an Idea Like This Come From?
At the dinner table one night a few years ago, Michael Maughan shared a story with his children about a horrific nightmare he’d had as a child. In the dream, young Michael’s crayons had come to life and gone on the attack. They were out to get him! His kids were entranced as he shared the story. Not by the story itself, mind you (it wasn’t really that scary)—but by the possibilities! When Michael was done sharing his dream the kids exclaimed, “That would make a great video game!” And so, an idea was born.
